Senate dismantles BLM Land Management Planning 2.0 rule

March 8, 2017

On March 7, the Senate voted to dismantle the BLM's Land Management Planning 2.0 rule. This unfortunate vote reverses more than two years of planning and public comment that had culminated in updating a very old 1983 rule that predated the concept of landscape level planning.    As the Senate used the Congressional Review Act to undo the rule, BLM may not develop a similar rule in the future.
