CWF, joined by NWF, submitted its scoping comments to BLM - click to read the July comments. This scoping or issues identification phase, marked the beginning the master leasing planning process for the public lands BLM manages in South Park. CWF had requested the BLM to engage in landscape level planning for iconic South Park in November 2011. We are pleased that the process began on June 1, 2015. In advance of the formal process, CWF and other stakeholders met numerous times to identify and build common ground as to how to recommend safeguarding water quality, the unfragmented magnificant wildlife habitat, fisheries, and other resource values. Park County has played an excellent leadership role. The process, so far, offers real potential to become a model for conducting collaborative landscape level planning processes elsewhere.
