CO bill proposes a public lands day

January 28, 2016

Colorado Senate Bill 16-21 proposes a public lands days annually on the 4th Monday of March.  Seantor Kerry Donovan is sponsoring the bill.  CWF testified in favor of the bill, but noted it should be amended or clarified to include state parks and state wildlife areas, in addition to public lands managed by BLM, US Forest Service and US Fish and Wildlife Service.  We believe our public lands should be celebrated with a designated special day each year. A designated day also offers focused education opportunities to emphasize to youth the importance of Colorado's public lands for recreation and the substantial contribution they provide to our economy.
