2008 Annual Report

2008 Annual Report

In 2008 CWF focused on gaining minimum protections for wildlife through oiland gas rulemaking conducted by the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.  Preceding the rulemaking process, CWF had been a leader in developing the legislation that passed in 2007,  mandating the rulemaking.  Other advocacy activities during 2008 included: work to advocate strengthening of the proposed Colorado roadless rule, and to conserve the Roan Plateau.  CWF also protested inclusion of parcels with important wildlife values in each of the four oil and gas lease sales conducted by the Bureau of Land Management.

As to nature and ecology education, CWF developed two important educational powerpoints during 2008.  "Life on the Prairie" and "Threatened and Endangered Species" are designed for classroom teachers as science units, complete with a teacher's lesson plan for middle school grades.  They are offered free of charge.  These powerpoints also are available to families free of charge.

CWF's revenue for 2008 consisted of individual and business member contributions, contributions of foundations, memorial gifts, workplace giving, a raffle, and sales of holiday wreaths.

The board of directors is diverse, possessing extensive wildlife expertise, as well as financial and business experience.
